Finding my spark* again

My role comes at a pivotal time in public relations, where the way in which people consume news or stories is changing at lightning speed.

How do you do it? How do you wake up at 3:30am and be so chipper on tv? That was the most asked question I faced over 14 years working in morning television. I would smile and answer… coffee and drive.

You could say it’s the same two things that brought me to spark*advocacy. They just replaced a broken coffee machine with a state of the art, high-tech, fancy machine that can not only make the best latte around, but also can send man to the moon. Or at least it looks like it can. Needless to say, they take their coffee needs seriously around here. That was an attractive draw for a reporter.

A draw even stronger than caffeine was my drive. Like a good party guest, I knew when it was time to leave the newsroom setting and take my skillset on a new adventure. I was looking for a challenge, somewhere I could spread my communication wings, and spark*advocacy is where I landed.

My work here will compliment a team of professional storytellers through an expanded division of spark*PR. Simply put, I will help our clients tell their stories to the audience they want to reach. My role comes at a pivotal time in public relations, where the way in which people consume news or stories is changing at lightning speed. Digital has taken over traditional airwaves and people have lost trust in the media.

I will argue this: the main stream media has a place, as does social media, websites, blogs/vlogs and so on. My point is: there are stories to tell. Stories that will evoke emotion, stories that will raise awareness and prompt change, stories that will make you so angry you won’t stop thinking about them. This is what I do. At spark*PR, I will make the connection between your organization and your audience. I’m over the moon (not in a coffee maker) to do this work. It’s what I love to do. It’s how I found my *spark again.
