Public Relations Strategist

So what’s the opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced, highly capable Public Relations Strategist who can hit the ground running. Someone who knows the earned media landscape, understands thought leadership, is a master of narrative and messaging, and can manage client relationships with confidence. You’ll be responsible for crafting stories, seizing media opportunities, and helping our clients be heard, clearly, convincingly, and with impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Managing Director, Public Relations, you will:

  • Work directly with clients to gain deep understanding of their challenges, objectives, and desired outcomes
  • Develop and implement public relations and communications strategies based on client goals
  • Pitch stories, op-eds, and narrative pieces to media outlets; build and maintain media relationships
  • Draft compelling content including op-eds, press releases, media advisories, and other thought leadership materials (e.g. podcast content, commentary)
  • Develop and maintain key messaging frameworks and narrative lines for clients
  • Organize press conferences, media briefings and support logistics as needed
  • Provide strategic input on social media content and strategies when required
  • Monitor media landscape, track coverage, assess performance, and adjust strategy as necessary
  • Remain informed on public affairs and the political landscape
  • Other duties as assigned including contributing to internal agency thinking, helping to identify emerging trends, tools, and practices that can benefit clients

Experience + Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has:

  • 4–5+ years of experience in public relations or communications, ideally in an agency environment or a fast-paced in-house role, with a strong track record in earned media and thought leadership
  • A self-starter mindset and the confidence to hit the ground running, with sharp strategic instincts and sound judgment
  • Exceptional writing skills that are crisp, persuasive, and adaptable across op-eds, press releases, media advisories, and key messaging
  • A proven ability to pitch stories and op-eds, secure coverage, and build lasting relationships with journalists and editors
  • Strong client-facing skills, including the ability to quickly grasp complex issues and turn them into clear, compelling narratives
  • Some experience supporting social media efforts that complement earned media and amplify public relations strategies
  • Comfort navigating the fast pace environment while multitasking across multiple projects, clients, and deadlines
  • Experience working directly in media, whether in journalism, editorial, or senior media relations an asset
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
