Royal Family among Canadians? Affection is much stronger for the next King and Queen, than those we have today.

Kate, Will, and to a lesser degree Harry, are a lot more popular than Charles and Camilla.

Oct 21, 2025

Queen Elizabeth was popular among Canadians, even if the Monarchy became more of a question mark in terms of its relevance to our country, over the years. She persevered through many trials and tribulations with her family, not the least of which was the involvement of her son Andrew with Jeffrey Epstein.

More recently, we’ve seen King Charles take some steps towards reform, and his son and heir William talk more openly about the need for change, and his desire to bring it when he becomes King.

For Canadians anyway, the popularity of the monarchy has a lot to do right now with the popularity of Kate and William. Both of them, and to a lesser degree Harry, enjoy a good level of favourability among Canadians. King Charles is quite a bit more popular than Queen Camilla. Opinion is divided on Meghan Markle.

Among those under 30, Markle is more liked than disliked. The opposite is true among those 60 or older. Older people have more positive feelings than younger people about Kate, William, Harry and Charles, and more negative views about Camilla and Meghan.

Conservative voters are often the most positive when it comes to the monarchy and the Royal Family. The 2025 Conservative voter tends to like Kate and Harry, but is lukewarm towards the King, and cool towards the Queen.

In Quebec, as has generally been the case, opinions about the Royal Family are less positive. At the same time, Kate and William are pretty popular, and opinion is more negative than positive towards the current King and Queen.

The data referenced were gathered online, with a representative sample of 3,013 adults across Canada, between the dates October 10, 2025 and October 15, 2025.
